My cousin and her husband dove with two different operations, which were Cayman Dive Shuttle and DiveTech. They dove 4 dives with Cayman Dive Shuttle and 5 dives with DiveTech. The other 3 dives were shore dives.

- Cayman Dive Shuttle has a more customized dive experience for divers. The operation is owned by a husband/wife team and they have one small boat that fits maximum of 8 people all together. They keep the groups small for a more personalized and relaxed experience, away from the crowds.

- DiveTech is another great operation. They have two large boats and two departure sites, which are Lighthouse Point and Cobalt Coast Dive Resort. Once again, my cousin informed me about some of their dives. They dived with DiveTech for three days. When you dive with DiveTech for three or more days, you get unlimited shore diving and an overall discount on diving. So you will get a pretty good deal. DiveTech goes on a deep dive and then follows that with a shallow reef dive. There was more available on the boat for use such as a device to analyze Nitrox, which Cayman Dive Shuttle did not have. DiveTech's crew was friendly and at times would let you explore without the guide as long as you had a buddy to roam underwater with.

After the Katzenelnbogens died out, the Hesse family took over the castle and turned it into a Renaissance castle and one of Germany's strongest fortresses. In 1794, it was handed over to King Louis XIV and the castle and its walls were destroyed. Today, the sheer size of the ruins is astonishing. A Paradise Called Boracay

My husband and I needed that - a day of nothing, but relaxation. Its been so stressful because of the cold weather here in Buffalo, it felt so good to just take a break and not worry about bills and deadlines. Perfect timing as its summer in my homeland Philippines. My travel partner is wonderful for making this vacation for real. It's been three long years since I left my country, we both so exhausted on a long hour's trip. Upon arrival to Ninoy Aquino International Airport I never felt that I've gone these long, maybe because nothings change. The crowded Edsa, crow of a rooster, street vendors and Magdalena waiting for her maybe first customer. As early as 6am, were waiting for our next flight to Caticlan Boracay, but this time with my parent's. This is our first time that we travel together and it's going to be so exciting. Our first adventure - Boracay Island.

This little island is quite amazing. The emerald, sea green ocean, the long stretch of white sandy beaches parallel with an abundance of restaurants of various cuisines... and of course, buffets with "bottom-less iced teas". Willy's Rock hotel is our "only" place to stay when we go to Boracay. We have our favorite suite overlooking from the beach. It is far enough from the mainstream which is absolutely relaxing. What we like about this place was very close to the shore, you may have your breakfast in front of the shore, or to have a very refreshing fruit shake while watching sunrise or sunset awesome!! This location is great quite far from the crowd, very peaceful, friendly staff and the food was good. Whether you're traveling alone, with your significant other, or family, it's worth the money to stay there and soak in the sun, peacefulness and tranquility.

There is plenty of things that you can do in Boracay: island hopping, snorkeling, jet-skiing, sailing, shopping and so on. The first thing which attract my eyes when I arrived in Boracay are the colorful sails floating all over the blue sea. Blue, black, and white sails glided gently across the water and they blended so nicely with the sparkling sea and sunny sky that for a moment, I thought I might have been looking at a postcard. But no, I was really standing in the infamous semi-paradise island of the Philippines. I had never ever sailed in my life before and so I was thrilled by the sight, "Let's go and try! Let's try!" I'm glad my husband and my parents have shared the same enthusiasm. Dave and I tried also the Reef walking. We spent two days trying them all, with me casting a longing look now and then onto the floating colors scattered over the blue sea. On our last day, we reserve a good spot on the Beach a dinner for 4, and that moment was the highlight of this wonderful trip.

Lake Baringo

A fresh water lake located in the Great Rift Valley region, approximately 150 kilometers North of Nakuru town, lake Baringo is a must visit for the adventurous spirited. Belize Maya Ruin Cave: Actun Tunichil Muknal

Actun Tunichil Muknal, (pronounced "Awk-toon Toon-each-EEL Mook-nal"), translated, it means "Cave of the Stone Sepulchre" and is sometimes (simply) referred to as the ATM Cave. This cave is an incredible network of subterranean spaces that descend over three miles into the earth and were used between 1000-2000 years ago by the Maya for religious ceremonies that included grisly human sacrifices. Caves were churches for the Maya, and indeed, some of the caverns rival the greatest cathedrals on earth today with all of their immense volume and transcendent beauty.

An Actun Tunichil Muknal adventure will start in San Ignacio town, Cayo District, with a 45 minute walk through the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve. This walk will take you through the forest and four rivers will need to be crossed to reach the entrance to this cave. Be prepared to get wet as you will walk through these rivers. Along the way one can learned how to identify several trees and plants, as well as their commercial and medicinal uses. The hike alone is truly a fascinating experience. At the cave's entrance one must ready the lamps on your helmets, put your cameras and dry clothes into a waterproof bag.

The portal into the Mayan underworld is shaped like an hourglass. Enter into this mouth and sink into a turquoise pool fifteen feet deep filled with fish and then bid farewell to the light of the world for the next three hours as one must rely on headlamps to illuminate your way through total darkness.

During this journey one steps in and out of water, sometimes waist deep and sometimes swimming. Occasionally one will need to climb or crouch, often using four contact points to navigate over fields of fallen boulders or twist through narrow passages.

You will emerge from the water into a large cavern at about the half mile point. Then you must ascend a series of rocks and ledges to reach the main ceremonial center. To respect the hallowed ground and to protect the pottery strewn about the cave's floor all shoes must be removed.

Religious pots are still intact, left untouched for a millennium although most have been intentionally punctured or smashed, to release the spirit of what they once contained whether it be water, food, blood, bones or ashes.

One of the pots contain a carving of a monkey, which the Maya considered to be the gods' third attempt at creating humans. First came Man of Mud, who didn't work out for various reasons. Next came Man of Wood, who tended to catch on fire a little too easily. Third came Monkey Man, who was too playful and disrespectful of the gods. Finally, there appeared humans, who apparently were deemed just good enough.

Walking deeper into the cavern the tall ceiling and enormous stalagmite and stalactite formations makes one gasp in awe. These were believed to be the roots of the Yaxche, the sacred Maya Tree of Life whose high, axial branches were believed to touch the celestial realm of stars and glorified ancestor spirits and its roots were believed to have extended through the nine layers of the underworld, Xibalba.

It is in this area that one begins to see the remains of the 7 adults and 7 children that have been discovered in this cave. The Maya did not sacrifice slaves or common people; only the best people in society were offered to the gods. One of the skulls had filed teeth carefully inlaid with jade. The forehead had been shaped and flattened by a board since birth. Most likely this was a male who also had a bead suspended above his nose, so that he could stare at it and permanently cross his eyes. According to ancient Maya he was royalty and a rather attractive guy. No doubt he was most likely clubbed and/or choked to death by his priest.

Continuing further into the cavern there is a ladder propped against a wall. On this ledge is the chamber that contains the famous Crystal Maiden, the completely intact skeleton of a teenage girl, that is covered with sparkling cave minerals.

The Crystal Maiden's journey ended at this point about a 1000 + years ago. And so does the modern visitor's journey. One must turn around, crawl, hike and swim all the way back to the entrance of this truly magnificent cave taking away some breathtaking photos and memories of a lifetime!

Belize Maya Ruins: Cerro Maya

From 400 B.C. to 100 A.D., Cerros, or Cerro Maya, or "Maya Hill" was a pivotal coastal trading center. Cerro gives us an opportunity to look at a time in Maya past and that being the pre-classic period. Cerro Maya was first occupied around 500 B.C., and development continued into the first century after Christ, in the time that we call the late pre-classic period. Cerros Maya is one of only two pre-classic sites in Belize. There were no later additions to this site nor to its structures. Cerros gives you the opportunity to look at what the Maya were during that time period.

Maya civilization was fully developed before the birth of Christ, Maya writing is already being used before the birth of Christ, mathematics, calendrics, studies in astronomy and other scientific achievements, all made before the birth of Christ, and Cerros is one of those places where this comes to light. The Maya were way ahead of their times in terms of their achievements, more so than anybody had previously thought. Belize boasts hundreds of Mayan sites, but archaeologists have discovered that Cerros is one of the few pre-classic sites with ball courts, indicating its prestige at such an early time. For much of its history the site was an important trading center probably based on this sea-borne import of jade and obsidian. The early decline of Cerros was possibly slow due to the general shift of trade routes connecting the highlands and lowlands in the early classic.

Cerro Maya is located at the mouth of the New River, on a peninsula across from the town of Corozal and in the Bay of Chetumal. Archaeologists believe Cerros must not have survived long because of a shift in trade routes. At the height of its day, the city distributed salt from mining communities and traded chert tools. Today, Cerros is partially underwater, but what remains is stunning - including five temples (one that is 72 feet high) and related plazas, a large canal system and a beautiful panoramic viewed from the top of the temples.

Cerro Maya reserve comprises a total of 52 acres and includes 3 large architectural complexes dominating several plazas flanked by pyramidal like structures. Tombs and ball courts have been excavated and artifacts found within them attest to the importance of the site between 400 BC and A.D. 100. This site's proximity to the sea has resulted in the erosion of two large structures.

Cerros can be reached by a short boat ride from Corozal Town. Boats can be hired in town from your hotel guest services. One can drive to Cerros by road crossing the ferry at the south side of the town. Enroute to Cerros one passes such picturesque points of interest, on the lagoon side, villages such as Chunox, Progresso and Copper Bank. Tours in Peru: Huchuy Qosqo

Huchuy Qosqo is little known among the average traveler to Peru and Machu Picchu. Sometimes the name crops up in association with trekking and the Inca Trail, and is often mentioned as an alternative to the former, more famous trek. However, this small archaeological site is nowhere on the scale of Machu Picchu and involves only 1 full day of trekking. Rather than being an alternative to the Inca Trail, Huchuy Qosqo should be viewed as a supplement or as an easier trek to take if the difficulty of the Inca Trail is not appealing or otherwise impeding.

In Quechua, Huchuy Qosqo means "little Cusco," but this name has recent origins and the site was previously known as Kakya Qawanu. It is located at an elevation of 11,800 feet (3,600 meters) above sea level. The site provides excellent views of the Sacred Valley, the Vilcanota River, and the surrounding mountain range and marks the change in landscape between puna(or high altitude savannah) and the fertile Andean terraces on the river valley.

The archaeological site includes and extensive set of adobe and stone buildings, or what remains of them. Perhaps the most significant aspect of the site is a 131-foot (40-meter) long kallanka (or great hall), characterized by very fine stonework and which is thought to have served as a ceremonial center. The inclusion of adobe is unusual; the other notable example is in Raqchi (also known as the Temple of Wiracocha). Both were identifiably constructed during the late stages of the Inca Empire after 1450, had long rectangular forms and had pitched roofs covered in straw. Located on a plateau and surrounded by Inca terracing, the complex was also served by an irrigation channel.

Access:
Huchuy cannot be reached by road. There are two ways to access the site via trail. The first is via the small town of Lamay, located almost 2,000 feet (600 meters) below the site. A series of switchbacks leads up to Huchuy Qosqo.

The second access is a longer trek from Tauca (or Tauqaq), located at 12,600 feet (3,840 meters) above sea level and approximately 1.5 hours or 100 miles (60 km) from Cusco. This small town is located on the edge of Piuray Lagoon, where a trail leads northeast to a 14,450 foot (4,400 meter) pass and offers astounding views of the snow-capped peaks of Ausangate (6,384 m), Veronica (5,682 m), Pitusiray (5,050 m), and Sahuasiray (5,770 m).

Reaching the site can be done independently, though having a guide that knows the terrain is highly recommended. Treks usually start from Tauca. Two-day treks make camp just before reaching the site, whereas one-day treks continue on. Organized tours include a guide, cooks, and horses for carrying gear, including tents and sleeping bags.
