Top 5 Beaches in Goa

Goa is known for its beaches and there are so many that it can be a difficult choice at times to choose which one to visit. Baga Beach: Situated in the West of Mapusa, Baga is one of the most popular beaches in Goa. It is particularly famous for its water sports and a thriving nightlife. One can reach these medicinal springs by taking a narrow roadway that leads to Mottant and then passing through Bom Viagem Convent. Calungute Beach: Calungute got its name after the local village called Kolongutt. However, with the Portuguese invasion the word was distorted and it started to be called Calungute. The name Cal is derived from the Hindu Goddess Kali, who is extensively worshipped by the local fisher folk. Calungute Beach is the largest in North Goa and is known particularly for its beach shacks and stalls. Dabolim Airport is situated at a distance of 40km from Calangute Beach.

Colva Beach: Colva is one of the longest beaches in the world stretching 24km. The beach is packed during the weekends and is extremely popular among the locals. At Colva, one can enjoy adventurous water sport activities such as para wynching, jet skiing and speed boat rides at reasonable rates. Colva Beach is 40km from Panaji and 8km from Maragao. The nearest railway station is at Maragao.

Anjuna Beach: Anjuna Beach enjoys the reputation of hosting some of the most wildest parties in the world. Anjuna is famous for its full-moon parties and the Wednesday flea market. This flea market is extremely popular and one can pick variety of different types of products. The main attraction of Anjuna is magnificent historic Albuquerque Mansion built in 1920. It is situated at a distance of 47km from Dabolim Airport.

Arambol Beach: Arambol is becoming the favorite beach of most international tourists and is particularly packed during the winter season between November and March. It is situated at a distance of one-hour drive from Dabolim Airport. Arambol is regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches and at the north of the main beach, one can also find a smaller beach with a fresh water lake. To enjoy a truly secluded retreat, this is one of the best beaches in Goa that one can visit.
